Buyer sales tax is excluded because it is normally collected and remitted by the marketplace.
Marketplace Fee Calculator
Compare estimated take-home profit across six popular U.S. selling platforms.
Advanced fee assumptions
Professional removes the $0.99 per-item fee; its $39.99 monthly plan is not allocated here.
eBay baseline: one U.S. order, a non-Store or Starter seller, most categories, domestic sale, standard seller performance, and no insertion or listing-upgrade fee. Category, Store, account-status, and international fees can differ.
Live comparison: every result updates as you edit. These are source-checked U.S. planning baselines, not category-specific quotes.

How seller profit is estimated
Revenue, marketplace charges, and your entered costs stay separate so the result is easy to audit.
This subtracts only the marketplace charges shown in the selected breakdown; enter unmodeled charges under other costs.
Profit margin divides profit by order revenue; ROI divides profit by your entered costs.
| Variable | Meaning | Included in |
|---|---|---|
| S | Item sale price | Revenue and most fee bases |
| Hb | Shipping charged to buyer | Revenue and applicable fee bases |
| T | Buyer sales tax | Selected payment/final-value fee bases only |
| C | Item, shipping, and other seller costs | Profit and ROI |
Marketplace fee and profit snapshot
Ranked by estimated profit. “Fees ÷ revenue” is total modeled platform fees divided by sale price plus buyer-paid shipping—not the marketplace's published base rate.

Read the leaderboard with context
Fees are only one part of deciding where an item is most likely to sell profitably.
Separate shipping revenue from cost
Many platforms charge a percentage on buyer-paid shipping, even when the label costs you the same amount.
Use profit margin for pricing
ROI is useful for sourcing; margin is usually easier when deciding whether a sale price leaves enough room.
Balance fees with sell-through
The lowest-fee marketplace is not automatically the best audience, fastest sale, or lowest return-risk option.
Current U.S. baseline assumptions
Marketplace help pages were checked on August 4, 2026. eBay uses the non-Store/Starter “most categories” schedule; Amazon uses the “Everything Else” referral schedule. Category, plan, location, fulfillment, account status, and policy changes can alter the final charge.
Marketplace fee calculator FAQ
Quick answers about fee bases, seller profit, shipping, advertising, and rate accuracy.
Why can eBay show about 23% when its base rate is 13.6%?
It is not showing a 23% eBay base rate. “Fees ÷ revenue” adds the $0.30–$0.40 order fee and any enabled promoted-listing fee, then divides total modeled fees by sale price plus buyer-paid shipping. Fixed fees weigh more on inexpensive orders, so that all-in ratio can reach about 23%.
Which marketplace has the lowest fees?
It depends on price, category, plan, shipping, and optional promotion fees. The live leaderboard applies the same entered costs to all six platforms.
Why are shipping charged and shipping cost separate?
Shipping collected from a buyer can be revenue and part of a marketplace fee base, while the actual label is a separate seller expense.
What is net payout?
Net payout is order revenue after platform fees but before the item, shipping, packaging, and other costs you entered.
How is seller profit different from ROI?
Profit is the dollar amount left. ROI divides that profit by your entered item, shipping, and other seller costs.
Does the Amazon estimate include FBA?
No. The baseline uses Amazon's 15% “Everything Else” referral schedule plus the selected selling plan. Add FBA or other fulfillment charges under other costs, and use caution for categories with a different referral schedule.
Are these fee estimates guaranteed?
No. They are transparent U.S. planning estimates. Always confirm your category, account, location, and promotion rules before listing.
